Who are we?

I'm Carol, a curious retiree who has always wanted to see the United States, especially the national and state parks. My marmalade cat Livy, who only gets called Olivia Louise when she is in big trouble, likes the camping but isn't so sure about the driving. We are traveling in my motorhome Myrtle--she carries our home wherever we go. She is new and we are just getting comfortable with each other.

March 12, 2014

I picked up Myrtle at Poulsbo RV in Mount Vernon, Washington.  My brother Chuck was with me, and I arrived with my head full of excellent advice from my brother Dave.  We walked through all of the systems and I did everything, especially all of the systems that I hadn't had on my little pop-up Aliner trailer that I was trading in.  I was especially worried about dumping the waste tanks. I had watched a great Youtube video the night before, and on Dave's advice I bought the equipment I needed and walked through the dumping process exactly as I would need to do it on camping trips.

When all of the paperwork was complete I took a deep breath, turned on Myrtle's engine, shifted into reverse, and waited for the backup camera display to come on.  Between the camera and the great mirrors I got out of the parking space and the parking lot, and headed home.

Unfortunately, the backup camera quit working before I made it home.  But my brother David got me backed safely into my driveway and settled.  I was exhausted, but Myrtle was home!

I had cleaned all of my camping gear out of my Aliner trailer before trading it in.  I checked over everything to decide what I would move into Myrtle and where I wanted to store each item.  I have three exterior bins and an assortment of cupboards and drawers inside.  I moved equipment needed in the basics of setting up and breaking down camp into the bins on the driver's side and the "fun" stuff into the bin on the passenger/awning side.  The fun stuff includes chairs, a table, my BBQ, my "little red campfire" and a propane tank, tablecloth, . .
